39c.jpgAt midnight on Tuesday, February 6th, it was 13°F in Central Park. Here’s what the temperature was in some other parts of the world:

  • Anchorage, Alaska (18°F)
  • Nuuk, Greenland (27°F)
  • Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia (21°F, pictured at right)
  • Larsen Ice Shelf, Antarctica (23°F)
  • Reykjavik, Iceland (27°F)
  • Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory, Canada (23°F, but the wind chill is 5°F)

  1. Hey! Those comparisons aren’t fair, it’s summer in Antartica, duuuuhh!!! :)

    Keep up the great work.

  2. Wow, and they probably have shorter bread lines at Novosibirsk too!

  3. This is great walking weather cuz once you get going, it’s just perfect.

  4. Bassett: I knew someone would call me out on that one… so congrats, you’re the first. But still, it’s Antarctica! And it’s an ice shelf! We live on dry, unfrozen land, and it’s colder here!

  5. You forget Los Angeles, California – where at midnight the temp. was about 48 F.

Hope you’re staying reasonably warm given how cold it is there!

To be fair, it’s SUMMER in Antarctica.

  7. You Forgot:

    Hoth 19°F

But there is always the possibility of Wampa attack.

    Meaghan…

We’ve already been over that. Retard.

  9. Peggy, me thinks you missed the point here.

yeah, i didn’t notice that until I just reread this…um…my bad.

But hey, way to be an asshole about it. High five. You’re awesome.

That’s nothing. Where I’m from it was -20°F this morning not including the windchill.

you know, i would really enjoy 13 degrees. this weekend it was below zero here for three days straight, and windy. it’s 5 right now…longing for double digit temperatures, now that is sad.

  13. Oh…ok…
It was app. 2C here (which I guess would be around 35F there) so I guess you do take the cake…
Now, if you eat that quickly and add a couple of hot rum ciders I am sure you’ll feel much better…

  14. Benjamin – I did not miss the point. I’m just trying to rub it in.
